About
WUPILP is a student-run organization with a mission to educate future lawyers about the opportunities, rewards, and need for involvement in public interest law. Public interest law covers a wide spectrum of traditional legal practice and covers non-profit and governmental work.
WUPILP strives to provide law students with opportunities to work in the public interest field through our Summer Fellowship Program. Each summer WUPILP funds fellowships through various fundraising events. Past fellows have worked with county public defender's office, legal aid, the ACLU, Catholic Charities, Mercy Corps, and numerous other organizations.
A tradition for more than 30 years, WUPILP's biggest event of the year is the Bid for Justice Auction. For the 2024 summer, WUPILP, in partnership with the John Paul Stevens Foundation, supported nine students working public service law internships in Oregon and Alaska.
